Derek Johnston is a highly respected corporate, commercial, competition and securities law specialist. He has significant legal experience in the energy, capital markets, telecommunications and IT, and financial services sectors.
Derek is available to serve as an arbitrator in both domestic and international arbitrations. He holds a Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Arbitrators and Mediators Institute of New Zealand and various other arbitration institutions. He has been appointed to the Reserve Panel of Arbitrators of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre and to the Arbitration Panels of AMINZ, the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration and the Asian International Arbitration Centre. He also spent 10 years as a member (including 3 years as Chair) of the New Zealand Markets Disciplinary Tribunal.
