Penny Mudford is an arbitrator, mediator and conciliator, based in Wellington. She is a Fellow (Arbitration) of the Arbitrators’ and Mediators’ Institute of New Zealand (AMINZ) and a former chief executive of AMINZ. She is on the AMINZ panel of mediators, the NZDRC panels for arbitration and mediation, the Domain Name Commission mediation panel, and is a member of the National Panel of Conciliators for farming disputes. Her company, Resolution World, provides consulting in dispute resolution.
With a background in the farming sector as a dairy farmer and a provincial president of Federated Farmers, Penny is a specialist in farming contracts, livestock agreements, and farm equity partnerships. She is a scholar of the Kellogg Rural Leadership Programme at Lincoln University and has held various representative roles in the agriculture sector. She was a member of the appeals committee for the MAF Agricultural Recovery Programme of 2004, a member of a Ministerial Committee on land access in 2003, and a member of the Veterinary Council. A chartered member of the Institute of Directors, Penny is currently a board member on the Walking Access Commission, independent chair of the Racing Safety Development Fund, and independent director on the board of a digital printing manufacturing business.
Penny is author for the Rural Arbitration chapter of Green & Hunt Arbitration Law and Practice and the Dispute Resolution in Retirement Villages chapter in Elder Law in New Zealand (published by Thomson Reuters).
