Arbitration Survey Report

The Second Aotearoa New Zealand Arbitration Survey Report is now available.

Following the success of the Inaugural New Zealand Arbitration Survey, leading arbitral practitioners Royden Hindle and Anna Kirk and junior barrister Diana Qiu, in collaboration with the New Zealand Dispute Resolution Centre, have now compiled the results of the Second New Zealand Arbitration Survey. Their report:

  • Lifts the lid on trends within this confidential method of dispute resolution.
  • Along with the Inaugural New Zealand Arbitration Survey, now provides data for a 4 year period from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2022.
  • Indicates that arbitration continues to be more often used and entrenched than may be apparent to the legal community.
  • Shows that average resolution times continue to be significantly shorter than Court.
